“Coronavirus didn’t change our approach to cleaning for health, it just brought it to the forefront,” says Ross Champange, Operations Director for Jani-King New Orleans.
Ross has always emphasized the importance of Cleaning for Health while guiding roughly 200 franchises in his region to success. In mid-March, his company launched one of its largest communication campaigns ever to educate the public about Coronavirus and the role of professional cleaning in keeping buildings healthy.
“We did lots of news interviews. We wanted to become the go-to company,” said Champagne. “Part of the motivation was arming our customers against predators. We’d seen a lot of price gouging in our area, and we don’t want our customers to get hurt by out-of-state companies elevating the market.”
Health and Cleaning Go Hand in Hand
Champagne and his colleagues worked to educate the public and their customers about the basics of cleaning and disinfecting and the company’s practices that support Cleaning for Health. Jani-King cleans upwards of 1,000 facilities in the New Orleans area covering over one million square feet of space. Many of those are healthcare facilities.
“As a building service contractor, you have to define yourself and set yourself apart, but not with a gimmick. You need to be able to follow through on those claims,” said Champagne. “At Jani-King, health and cleaning have always gone hand-in-hand. We coach franchise owners on the two-step process of cleaning and disinfecting. We coach them to focus on touchpoints. We teach them to use ProTeam vacuums to capture microbes and dust particles in the filtration system to improve indoor air quality.”
Jani-King + ProTeam = A Recipe for Success
ProTeam backpack vacuums have been a part of the Jani-King recipe for success for over 15 years, long before Champagne started with the company 10 years ago. Due to the longevity of the vacuums, Champagne has seen franchises using models that date back at least that long. For new franchises or franchises looking to refleet, he recommends the Super Coach Pro 6 or 10.
“We stick with the ProTeam backpack vacuums. We’re backpack dominant because of the productivity, the ease of use, the range of motion, and because they LAST,” said Champagne. “We’re an efficiency training company. We work on motion, productivity, and ergonomics, which leads to efficiencies, which increases profit.”
The Importance of Ergonomics
Champagne appreciates the ergonomic harness on the Super Coach Pro models. He has noticed that the padding is more comfortable, the straps sit better, and it is easier to wear for longer periods of time. The new harness also allows more airflow between the unit and the user, keeping the user cool.
“The quality of cleaning with ProTeam vacuums has never been an issue. It has far superior suction to most backpacks on the market. We have tested them,” said Champagne. “You can’t beat the cleaning power from a ProTeam vacuum.”
