Leif Jacobson first learned of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) the hard way. Back when he was just a teenager, the well-known charity organization provided services for a dear friend and her family. So when, years later, he resolved to volunteer his time to a worthy cause, he went to his local Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs.
“It’s a fabulous cause,” Jacobson declares, “Especially because of who they’re ministering to, families with sick kids: people in life-and-death, hard situations.”
With a background in the professional cleaning industry, Jacobson determined to spend his volunteer hours creating a spotless, hygienic environment for the families at RMHC. But when he saw their subpar vacuums, he knew they deserved better. He turned to ProTeam.
“There were 24 rooms in the house, and the vacuums were being used all the time. But they were literally falling apart,” Jacobson recalls. “I’m just a volunteer there, but I thought I’d step up and send ProTeam an email. ‘We sure would be grateful if you had a couple of floor models or demo models you would consider donating.’”
He was prepared to share in the cost himself. But as it turns out, the ProTeam representatives exceeded his expectations.
“ProTeam was incredible. They told me, ‘Not only are we going to donate, we’re going to give you two brand new vacuums. Now there’s a ProForce 1500XP for each floor of Ronald McDonald House.”

Wisdom With Experience
How did Jacobson know to turn to ProTeam? In a previous chapter of his life, Jacobson operated Cleaner Guys, a cleaning and restoration company based in Mount Vernon, Washington.
He started the company while still working as a police officer, which helped foster the reputation for trustworthiness and reliability he was building in the cleaning industry.
“Having people work in your home can be scary,” he observes. “They need to know that you are trustworthy and that you will do a great job. We prided ourselves on being a highly trustworthy service.”
Over time, he committed to the company full-time, building it to a staff of 15 and a fleet of eight upright vacuums and ten backpack vacuums. He chose ProTeam right from the start.

“I’m a heavy researcher. In addition to getting information online, I talked to other janitorial service professionals about the good and the bad,” Jacobson recalls. “ProTeam is the Mercedes of vacuums,” he concluded.
For Jacobson, ProTeam has a clear advantage when it comes to design and durability.
“The design is fabulous,” he says. “It is easy to clear blockages from the ProForce vacuums. That’s a huge deal. The backpack vacuums are so easy to maintain, too.”
The superior filtration system was also a key factor in choosing ProTeam vacuums — and not just for maintaining indoor air quality for his residential customers. They also did a lot of move-in, move-out and post-construction cleaning. Cleaner Guys’ clients also included medical and dental clinics, where hygiene is mission-critical.
“With the construction jobs, you’re dealing with fine dust in every nook and cranny. And in the clinics, if the filtration system isn’t good, that’s an unacceptable health risk.”
Clean House, Clean Home
These days, Jacobson lives in Colorado, having reinvented himself once again as a realtor. But he hasn’t left ProTeam behind. After he sold his cleaning company, he bought himself a ProTeam upright and backpack for his own home. And back at Ronald McDonald House, he just started using those new ProForce vacuums.
“You can’t have families staying in a place where they can’t be well. They can’t care for their kids if they’re sick themselves. And we all know that air quality affects our health. So it’s vital to have great vacuums that are cleaning thoroughly.”
